Bongkrekic Acid in Methanol

Bongkrekic acid is a toxic cyclooctadepsipeptide produced by the bacterium Burkholderia gladioli pathovar cocovenenans, which is known to cause food poisoning in humans and animals. 

In terms of solubility, bongkrekic acid is sparingly soluble in most organic solvents, including methanol. Its solubility in methanol is reported to be around 0.1 mg/mL at room temperature. The solubility may be improved by using a co-solvent or by heating the solution, but care should be taken as bongkrekic acid is highly toxic and potentially lethal even in small quantities.
